A Crime Of Passion

A good story mostly comes with a happy ending included, but that’s not the case of this one.

The story begins in the tenth floor of DBS, a company that made millions last year thanks to the innovating job of his young CEO. It was around Christmas and Dave, the charming and married CEO of the company, a young but successful business man; tall and in great shape, with dark and short hair, blue eyes and a smile that make the all the women blush instantly, was holding the annual New Year’s eve party at his place.

His wife Margaret, with her blonde hair and blue eyes, was a nurse but she was more interested in being a mother than a nurse; was out of town with their two daughters visiting her parents.

Alice had just graduated from college with a master’s degree in business when she was hired has the new intern in Dave’s company. She was nervous for all the stories that Francis, her old friend from high school and now co-worker told her about everything that goes down on those parties.

At this point Alice had a couple of weeks working in DBS but had never met Dave she just saw him one time but didn’t get a change to introduce to him, but that was a about to change. It was late at night and Dave was still working. Alice was in the office also, she was trying to make an advance of the reports for the end of the week.

She was wearing a black skirt and a red sweater; little was to say that she was very attractive with her light brown hair and green eyes, lips so pink and provocative. She had the body like a model, her breast not too big and not too small just perfect size, thin and fitted with long legs and a cute butt.

That night was the first that Dave saw her, she walk in front of his office in direction to the copy room. Dave thought the he was the only one left in the place and got a little worried. He went to the copy room and there she was.

With a higher tone of voice he said:
D: “Excuse me Ms., what do you think you are doing here?”
She turned around, a little scared and said:
A: “Mr. Jones, I’m so sorry, I’m the new intern, Alice I thought that I could stay late and do some work I didn’t mean to disturb you” –
D: “It’s all right” he said –
D: “you don’t have to apologize; I thought that I was the only one here. I got a little worried that’s all”
D: “So you’re the new intern, I was told that you were already here but I haven’t got a chance to meet you. I’m Dave Jones the CEO of DBS but you probably already knew that, don’t you?
A: *slight giggle* “Yes Mr. Jones I knew that. I’m Alice, it nice to meet you”
D: “Nice to meet you too Alice. So what do you think of the place? Everybody treating you well?”
A: “It’s great” she said
A: “everybody is so nice and friendly around here. I adapted very quickly. It feels like I’m been her for a while and not just two weeks.”
D: “Glad to see you liked here and I hope that you continue with us for a long time.”
A: “Thanks Mr. Jones”
D: “No worries and Alice, please call me Dave everyone does.” *clears throat* “well I better go back to work” and with a seductive look and smile he finish: “it was nice to meet you Alice”
A: “It was nice to meet you too Mr. Jo… “A disappointed look in Dave’s face made her stop and quickly say *nervous laugh* “sorry, it was nice to meet you Dave”

As Dave was walking away the only thing on his mind was Alice, and she couldn’t hide her excitement behind her smile and blushing checks.

The day of the party arrived; Dave was a wearing a black tailor made suit; and as a good host and boss he was talking with everyone there. The music and the food were good; the drinks even better. The house was in the hills and had an excellent view of the city. Especially with the city lights making an incredible luminous effect.

Alice and Francis were late; they got carried away trying to find the perfect dress to wear. It took a while but finally they found what they were going after. Francis selected a blue and long dress, elegant and stylish; Alice wanted something sexy yet not vulgar. And old red dress was in her closet, it belong to her mother. It was the perfect fit. Her silhouette was defined but always leaving some hard work on the mind to imagine the rest.

When they arrived to the party Dave was in the backyard playing poker with some of the guys. Alice and Francis started to mingle and dancing. After a while Dave went back inside the house. And there she was, across the room in that beautiful red dress the girl that was causing all those sleepless nights for Dave.

He walk into the bar trying hard to be cautious because he didn’t wanted to see Alice in that moment. He started to mix drinks. People were gathering around because he was a skilled barman. But that buzz only made Alice notice him. Tired from dancing Francis and Alice went to get a drink. Dave couldn’t scape now he would have to face her.

They sat down right in front of Dave. She said Hello with a sweet voice. But Dave was trying to be indifferent answer with a cold hi and continue serving drinks.
A: ‘’You look surprise to see me here Dave” she said
D: “Yes, just a little. I didn’t know that you were coming”
A: “Well my plans change in the last minute so here I am. Aren’t you glad to see me? ”
D: “Of course I’m glad. I mean it’s great to see that everybody could be here”
A: “Yes it is. So you’re a bar man now? I didn’t know that you could do that. I’m impressed”
D: “I’m a man with a lot of skills.”
A: “Oh really”
D: “You’ll be surprised if you knew everything that I’m capable of doing. This is just something I learned at college.”
D: “Would you like something to drink?”
A: “You just read my mind. I’m completely parched”
D: “What do you like?”
A: “Surprise me”

Dave knew that this was his change to make a move. He started mixing ice with tequila and added cacao cream and double cream in equal amount. To give a sweet taste he put some cognac. And finally to get a red color just a little pulp of strawberries and a touch of chocolate liquor above to create a special center. The drink was called “Agave Kiss”

D: “this is called “Agave Kiss” a special recipe that I learnt when I was in Mexico”

After a sip of that drink Alice knew that everything was about to change between them.

A:”Wow this tastes amazing. You overpass my expectations once again.”
D: “Like I told you before, I’m full of surprises” and he winked at her
A: “You know I’m getting kinda bored. Would you like to dance with me?”
D: “Let’s do it”

The DJ was doing a good job keeping the party well entertained. Alice and Dave had great chemistry on the dance floor. Some would say that they have been dancing together for a long time. But maybe the sexual tension between them made it more interesting.

Suddenly a new song started playing. It was Let’s Get It On by Marvin Gaye. Dave stared right into Alice’s eyes. He was dying for a kiss but he knew that he could do it in front of the guest. So he whispered to her ear.
D: “why don’t you meet me in the master bedroom in five minutes? There’s something that I need to tell you in private. It’s really important for me”

And he walked away leaving Alice alone in the dance floor. She was intrigue by his words and didn’t what to do. She walk to the bar and asked for a shot of tequila. Maybe some liquid courage could help her. She desperately stared at the clock, the time had expired. After another drink she quickly got up and walk in the direction of the stairs.

When she was about to go up the stairs she heard her name. It was Francis; she was looking worried about her.
F: “Alice, are you ok? You look distracted and tense”
Alice knew that Francis couldn’t find out what she was about to do so she decide to lie to her.
A: “yes, I’m just a little sick to my stomach. I was going to the bathroom but the line was too big. Then the bartender told that there’s another bathroom upstairs.”
F: “You poor thing, I’m going to get our stuff so we can leave and give you something for your stomach”
A: “It’s all right Francis, you don’t have to worry, I’m sure it’s nothing serious. I’m just gonna used the bathroom. I’m sure I’ll be fine after that.”
F: “Ok sweetie, if you continue feeling bad just tell me and we’ll go”
A: “Thanks Francis, you are a good friend”

Francis walk away, still a little worried but a bit relief. Alice went up the stairs trying to find Dave. He was in the master bedroom waiting for her. He was facing to the window when she entered the room. The light was off only a few candles were illuminating the room.

Alice was anxious, she didn’t know what was about to happen. Dave turned around. In his eyes there was a different look. He stared at her passionately and kindly and finally he said.
D: “Oh Alice, I’m been trying to fight these feelings for a while now. But it’s quite impossible. I don’t want to lie to myself anymore. Since the first night I saw you in that copy room I can’t stop thinking in anything but you. It’s hard for me to concentrate in work ‘cause all I can think off it’s you.”
While he was telling Alice how he really felt about her he was slowly walking towards her. He grabbed her by the hips and got closer to her. When he finished telling what he felt to Alice he kissed her. It was a soft and romantic kiss; it didn’t last long ‘cause Alice push him away.

She wasn’t mad or surprise. She felt kinda happy. In her mind she was expecting that this happen. She had feelings for Dave too. And her smile couldn’t hide it.
A: “Oh Dave, this is so sweet, the candles and everything you said it’s so romantic. I feel that way about too. But this can’t happen. I mean I’m your intern. This is unethical. I can’t do this”

A long silent seize the situation. Both of them were staring at each other. Suddenly Alice kissed Dave passionately and left in a hurry leaving him alone in the room. He didn’t follow her. He knew that he couldn’t stop her.

Alice went to find Francis and convinced her to leave. She wouldn’t show up to work for the next week. Francis was covering for. She felt sick and ashamed for everything that happened that night. But there was something that she couldn’t help; she was blow out of her mind by that kiss. She wasn’t able to sleep or eat; she was too busy remembering that moment over and over again.

Finally Alice returned to work; everybody was worried about her they thought that something bad happen to her. She tried to avoid Dave all day luckily for her he was stuck in a meeting all afternoon.
A week past by; Dave and Alice haven’t seen each other since that night.

It was a Wednesday and everybody in the office was out at lunch celebrating the promotion of Francis, everyone, except Dave and Alice. They didn’t know that they were alone. Alice was in the lunch room eating her lunch; she stayed ‘cause wasn’t in the mood to be sociable. Dave was at his office working on a big presentation.

Dave had some food that his wife made for him in the morning; he was famished. Grabbing the food he went to the lunch room not knowing that Alice was there. Meanwhile Alice was sitting alone with her thoughts reading a magazine

Dave opened the door and there she was, the girl of his dreams in a pink sweater and black skirt as beautiful as an angel.
Alice smiled and said
A: hi boss how are you?
D: hello Alice I’m fine. How are you feeling? I heard that you were sick
A: yes I was, but I’m much better now
D: it’s good to see that you’re ok

It was an awkward moment that was past due. A long silent and looks of sorrow took over the room. Dave proceeded to put his food in the microwave while Alice was pretending to read a magazine. The silent was interrupted by the sound of the microwave. The food was heated and Dave knew that this was the perfect opportunity to get out of there
D: well Alice I guess I’ll see you later
A: I guess so.

Dave was about to walk out the door when Alice got up and stopped him. She grabbed him by his arm and made him turn around. Her eyes were filled with tenderness when she said
A: Dave, I have to confess something I wasn’t sick I was just a little scared to come back to work after everything that happened at the party. That kiss was amazing and everything I’ve wanted for in a while but I was sure if you would feel the same. I know that I sound like a silly little girl but I can’t hide it anymore.
D: oh Alice this was killing me, I thought that you were never coming back. You are all that I think about. I can’t focus in work or sleep. All those things that you said I felt them too. And I was afraid to lose you. But now we can be together.

Her hands moved slowly around his neck. His food was thrown to the floor. He needed his hands to hold her waist. Suddenly the mood change, all the awkward when away and now it was all giggles and smiles.
The passionate kissing, the strong desire and the obvious lust were combined. Their clothes were in the way. And the table was the closest thing to a bed in the room. Little was to say that that was the best lunch of their lives

The table in the middle of the room was the only witness of their affair, at least that’s what they thought. Margaret was about see something that would change her life in a matter of seconds.
She went to Dave’s office to surprise him, not knowing that she was the only one that was going to be surprised. When she got to Dave’s floor and notice that the room was empty she got suspicious but she continued to Dave’s office looking for him but his office was empty too.
She stayed there for a while until she heard a sound coming from the lunch room. It sounded like a woman moaning. She was curious and move carefully to the room trying not to make any sound. The moaning got louder. The door was partially opened. She saw Alice lying on the table but the angle of the door didn’t let her see Dave.
Margaret didn’t know Alice so she walked away but just before she left; she heard Alice shouting Dave’s name while she was reaching the climax. Margaret got furious; she kicked the door and there they were Alice and Dave, lying in the table with no scape out of the situation.
Alice quickly got up trying to find her clothes. Dave was in shock, it took a moment for him to react, but it was too late
Margaret was blocking the door, she was angry and unstable. A knife was lying on the counter. It was sharp and shiny just waiting for someone to grab him. In that moment Margaret made a decision; she wasn’t gonna let this go away and she wasn’t gonna forgive Dave so the only thing left to do was to kill Dave and his whore.
Alice was first, the intern didn’t put up a fight she was too sacred and ashamed. Margaret stood right in front of her. She knew the right place to stab her because of her nursing experience. Her jugular was unprotected. She didn’t hesitate and with accurate hit she killed her. She showed no mercy.
Dave was a different story, he was a strong man and he wouldn’t go down without a fight. Luckily for Margaret, Dave’s guilt would overshadow his strength.
He tried to calm her but his words didn’t mean anything to her anymore. She was determined to finish what she started. She thought that Dave was distracted so she tried to stab him but he was too fast. He grab her hand and tried to took the knife away but Margaret wasn’t gonna let anything to stop her for fulfilling her vendetta.
They struggled for a few seconds when Dave trip over Alice’s dead body. As he lay on the floor he realized that this was the end. He looked directly to Margaret eyes and asked for forgiveness but Margaret didn’t listen and stab him right in the heart.
It was over, Margaret throw the knife away and started crying but not out of guilt or sadness, no she was happy about it her life had a new meaning now. She stood for herself and didn’t let anything or anyone to tell her how to do things.
Alice and Dave died out of lust. But Margaret killed them out of love.
They say a crime of passion represents how love can be so obsessive that can makes us commit a crime but what it really means is that love isn’t strong enough to survive treason.
