Fountain of Inspiration

The drone of the fountain
Captures the contented hum of conversation
In every drop that cascades
To the center of its ever restless pool.​

Children tempt fate
While fathers chase suddenly wet
Babes that squeal with delight
Around the waters edge.​

There is peace in their eyes
Innocent like the jets of water
That entrap the sun
On this Thursday afternoon.​

Even I hide a smile of amusement
Behind my tear logged eyes
And sorrow stricken heart
That looks for you in every reflection.​

The fountain weeps for me
As I write these words.
