    "Vanity, vanity, all is vanity.
    That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun."
    A paraphrase from Ecclesiastes
    [IMG]

    Sometimes I wonder what the world is thinking
    As it carts this rabble ‘round the sun:
    People like you and me, scheming and slinking,
    You think we’d all just stop and have some fun.

    I reject all paradigms in their totality,
    I don’t even like to think outside the box.
    I wear a paper clip in my ear to assert my individuality;
    It’s been six years since I owned a pair of socks.

    I show the world around me two-thirds of my underwear
    (they’re just clean enough that they don’t smell).
    I still think it’s funny how the folks stop and stare;
    If it didn’t take so much effort I’d rebel.

    I spend the livelong day just contemplating the wall,
    And I ask myself if I should get another ‘tat.
    My nipple rings get so itchy it makes me crawl,
    But we don’t have to talk about that.

    Well, this big old earth continues in its turning,
    And I just stay here sittin’ on my ass,
    ‘Cause I know that that old sun will keep on burning
    And I remind myself that all this, too, must surely pass.

    Your poem has so much culture, I'm not sure if I should laugh or congratulate you. Maybe both. I have to say, not what I was expecting, thanks for the surprise.

    I generally aim to surprise and provoke thought, so thanks to you for your congratulations and laughter; both were intended for and expected from only the discriminating reader. This poem was inspired mostly from the news that some communities in the USA are striving to ban the Hip-Hop style of dress, with the pants worn down low and showing off the boxer shorts. So, unanswered questions on both sides remain. I'll let the readers draw their own conclusions. Thanks for stopping by!

    And that is part of the point of my poem. Whether you agree or not with the fashions and fads of the day, they are all ethereal... nothing is forever in this world, and very few things are truly original. So as a poet, I hope the reader will ask himself, why do we worry about the things we don't like, for they will all, surely, pass.

    Thanks for spending a little time among my verses.
