    It is forbidden

    Sometimes
    we quit
    to what we most love
    because sometimes
    they forbid us
    what we most want
    or because they tell us
that only to what is allowed

    we have the right to.

    Sometimes
    they demand we surrender
    before the forbidden,
    although only to humans
    it is forbidden

    what is prohibited.

    But sometimes we say
that our blood is a river,
that our chest is a volcano,
that our body is fire ...

    But who prevents
    to a river that overflows?
    Who avoids
    a volcano throws flames?
    Who forbids

    to the fire that calcined?

    And yet they demand us
    that we be human beings,
and we have to be human beings
    to give up everything
    what is prohibited
    .

    Translation

    Está prohibido

    A veces
    renunciamos
    a lo que más queremos
    porque a veces
    nos prohíben
    lo que más deseamos
    o porque nos dicen
    que sólo a lo permitido
    tenemos derecho.

    A veces
    nos exigen que claudiquemos
    ante lo prohibido,
    aunque sólo a los humanos
    se les prohíbe
    lo que está prohibido.

    Pero a veces decimos
    que nuestra sangre es río,
    que nuestro pecho es volcán,
    que nuestro cuerpo es fuego…

    Pero ¿quién le impide
a un río que se desborde?
    ¿Quién evita
    que un volcán arroje llamas?

    ¿Quién le prohíbe
    al fuego que calcine?

    Y sin embargo nos exigen
    que seamos humanos,
    y tenemos que ser humanos
    para renunciar a todo
    lo que está prohibido.

    Dear Ulpiano,
I love poems that state an idea, thoughts or feelings that excite us, just as much as love, nature and friendship do. The words you use generate ideas, new insights, and of course, my responses that travel around trying to find a moment in time to place the last period somewhere.. but not yet.

From the time I was 11 or 12 years old, I announced to anyone who asked why I was so happy. “ I’m in love with Diana and she’s going to be my girlfriend ” It never happened because she was catholic and I wasn’t.

From that moment on love became both, happiness and sadness or as the saying goes ” a religious experience” and such made me loved her even more.

Your poem is beautiful in each one of its paragraphs.

Blessings to you in tu bella Cartagena,

    Fidel Guerra.

I am extremely grateful, dear friend and poet Fidel, for your extraordinary and generous message. My thanks are not only for the praise you make to my verses, which fills me with enthusiasm and drives me to continue on my path through poetry, I also thank you for the confidence you give me when you trust me episodes of your romantic life and tell me what the poems you love are (including mine).

Returning your blessings, wishing you success in your poetic work, receive another great and fraternal hug,

    Ramiro

I can easily identify with your beautiful and meaningful words. So many restrictions are put on us at an early age, instead of letting the child explore we repress the feelings of "wonder" it is no coincidence that when we grow up, we find ourselves unhappy and unmotivated. I was always told "I couldn't do", but thank goodness I am very stubborn and learned to weed out those ideas. I have yet to walk away from a challenge and in that respect, I am grateful for having the tenacity to keep going.

I always enjoy your poetry, you should write more in English, you do it splendidly.

    XOXO (Hugs and kisses)

Thank you, dear friend and poet Guadalupe, for having read my poem and, at the same time, interpret it wisely. I thank you too
because you enjoy my poems in English and I celebrate your advice so that I continue writing in this language. I must also write in other languages in order not to forget what I still remember about them.

    Another big and fraternal hug,

    Ulpiano
