Luna, río, hombre (memorias de aquella noche)

Anoche el río cambió su rumbo.
No sé la verdad si es cierto;
¿miente acaso la luna,
testigo único?​

¡Ese río! Ni este poema ni
cualquiera podrá jamás describir
su cauce diabólico.
¡Los árboles que llevaba consigo!
¡Los soles que vivieron en sus aguas!
¡Tanta gente que ahogó en su lodo putrefacto!​

Anoche el río cambió su rumbo.
Me lo dijo la luna en un soplo del viento,
mismo viento que un día fue cómplice
de ese río endemoniado.
¿Creerle o no creerle?​

¡Ese río! Las lágrimas pueblan mis mejillas
