THE CLOCK

It was a rainy autumn night
When a heard a sudden weep
Crying through out the shadows
Waking me from my sleep.
It's the stroke of midnight
From the other side of the room
Beating like my broken heart
A hideous song of gloom.
I walked barefoot towards it
And found it staring at me
With a round face of pale,
Twelve eyes of copper,
And a demoniac wooden tail.
Hypnotized by the clock
Rising among the dark,
Blankness and worthlessness,
Feeding a cruel lark;
Took my will
And took my pride
Left me with my loneliness
Buried at thy side.
