Awkward Silence

I didn’t get to explain
it’s obvious, anyways
this journey is not for us
carry on, carry on.

This is what we have left
of that, that was never there
just awkward silence everywhere.

No more letters, no goodbyes
no more words or alibis
it’s all just trapped butterflies.

A cup of coffee, will I get that chance
a sip of tea without holding hands
just talk over a monotonous lullaby
and get a chance to know those eyes.
