Because He Was A Dreamer

Do I know you bright star?
Because it seems so long
since I last saw you,
so long.
I had to go far away
to relieve the pain of a friend,
a friend who was injured
and couldn’t get up.

Fury of bitter waves,
reminder of a million knives
stabbing the tranquility
of the red dream.
There was no clear escape
from grey solitude,
blue clouds,
dark hopelessness.

Trying to get him up
was like searching for gold.
Hands that grasp a rope
visible as air.
He’s finally up, but…
Oh dear flow, you vanish!
One step forward,
more cups of pain.

He sticks with me,
severely wounded.
Escape. Be free. Love.
That’s the peak to reach.
After some sunrises
and painful sunsets,
he rediscovers life in a smile.
Slow progress, but it is progress.

Ashes are washed away
by the fluent drops of time.
Somehow weary,
slowly goes forward.
Hurt because of being a follower,
hurt because he believed;
inevitable hurt that struck
because he was a dreamer.
