el tipo de al lado sube putas al cuarto
y en mi cuarto hay un ventanuco y el grifo del lavabo gotea
y la cañería detrás de las paredes hace extraños ruidos todo el tiempo;
la cama es un bastidor de madera con tablas y un jergón encima
y aparte de un desvencijado armario no hay otros muebles;
las paredes tienen un horrible color gris
y del techo cuelga un ventilador que no gira;
en lugar de puerta hay una cortina de cuentas
-como en uno de esos hoteles tailandeses de mala muerte-
así que cualquiera puede meter la cabeza y asomarse dentro
cosa que de hecho ocurre con frecuencia dado que las habitaciones
tampoco están numeradas y cuando uno recién llega
lo mandan a meterse en el primer cuarto vacío que encuentre;
cuando llegué hace ya algunas semanas
eché un vistazo a otros cuartos pensando
que quizás alguno tendría, si no un aspecto menos siniestro
por lo menos una cama aceptable -quizás otro tono de pintura en la pared-
sin embargo no era así, cada cuarto es una copia de los otros;
