Just a bit of nothing


I get by with just a bit of nothing
while you fight to have a lot of everything
All I possess is misery, you say,
but my most precious gift,
my word, my thought, hurts you: why?
I get by with just a bit of nothing
while you distance yourself
to have a lot of everything
We both started this trip side by side,
walking, hand in hand, both blind
Now you run while I still walk,
why?
Where is this place you go and can’t get there calmly?
We’ll still be here for a while,
tell me what scares you.
I thought having a lot of everything
would suit you just fine.
I realize it doesn’t,
it was just a defence mechanism
where you hid while you could.
Alone, now, in your Palace at the end of the world
I heard you sent for me, just to ask me:
What is it, just a bit of nothing?
