just cannot remember

I can't remember
if I've ever been there before,
but when I see you, I get a vision of my past.

That city holds a special place in my heart,
I’ve walked those streets, summer and winter, spring
and fall. I have lived there! You just cannot remember.

I’m finally at peace;
I know who I am and where I belong.
I’ve discovered you, my roots, and moved on
to live my life, to find my way. I’m like you, I like to write.

You can't describe the smell of many things,
but surely the perfume that special someone wears from a distance.
