walking dreams

Even if it's called Rio Grand
it is not even a big river at all,
just a small jewel on the border
where you don’t expect to find a jewel at all. ​

Some big, some dwarf willows
line the banks all the way to the international bridge
where the way of life of both countries commingle, with ease.
​

That’s the place, the waters
that swallowed my sins and welcomed me
to the church and into the States some 30 years ago. ​

On this journey
I found a little turtle a long the way,
a quiet little friend basking in the sun that told me;
- relax dude, take it easy, that’s how la migra works
and walks, just like me and I’m also the reason why they wear green. Since then I became a turtle whisperer.
Now, I don’t know if this is deep but a festive little poem for sure. Life is an adventure, on so many levels, but I’m not a brave -heart whatsoever, just crazy and romantic as hell.

I'm happy I was born in the south,
I'm glad I ventured north and that I feel so proud to held
my right hand tight, very tight, over my two hearts.
Despite everything that’s going around..well, happy 4th to those who may like to and wish, as I do, for healthier times to come.

I have to say that I am amazed by this poem.

I highlight specially the first paragraph. It is a blow in my heart. Something could have a great value without being so big.



On the other hand if a person is ventured it deserves success.

This is the river I used to visit, for many years, to reflect on things, like the decision to emigrate and leave everything that I was, then, in 1989 behind me.

The water is healthy, thus, the river alive and beautiful but I still remember the smells, the noises of land and marine creatures running away or jumping into the water while in my journey toward this- for now strange- but still beautiful land of dreamy people and landscapes.

I think so. We took different routes to come to the States. I was a lonely traveler and when out on the road in strange surroundings or in a very hot weather I relaxed and enjoy the silence. Some people run up for the hills, I made for the water.

But many times I stopped and watched cows, deer,
roadrunners, rabbits, birds, turtles..oh, and a very cute dinosaur.!

Late 80’s early 90’s,
those were difficult times,
but it is fair to say that as of today
none of those hard years had changed me a bit.

These are exciting times,
not because of Donald Trump
but because there’s hope that someone good is on the way.

The Michiganian version of it tho... I was to little to run... or to swim... or even to walk... I got carried in... far in to the beautiful land of

Hi Gus,
happy Monday, happy back to work, back into our masks and into our historical times. I guess I'm a lucky guy to be able to came in before the Trump administration. Besides my Mexican dreams and my dry clothes I didn't have any other load to carry across; you know, my books, my cell phone, my soccer shoes, etc...and in regards to the dinosaur, well, in many ways I'm still fighting to ensure the basic animal freedoms of that elephant - sorry - of that dinosaur, who, by the way, was a very nice little dude but warned me not to mess with him, I bet he learned or heard that somewhere.
