What is Love?

What is love if not the bread of the soul?
the elixir that shall satisfy the heart
and yet leave it discontented and aching for more?
What is love then if not this?
For since I saw your eyes I’m no longer able to sleep
due to the fear of waking up of a beautiful dream.
What is love if not what grows inside me everyday
And gets more powerful every time I see your smile?
Oh your smile, it will be my doom and my salvation,
my ultimate temptation;
no smile could bring the joy that yours holds,
no other eyes could light my soul the way yours does.
No suffering would have anyone in the world if they could see your face,
just one single time,
for no one could be sad at the sight of you,
and no one could ever erase your beauty off their minds.
What a horrible curse have been set in my eyes,
for I have to blink and miss the grace of your perfect smile.
Even if it’s just for less than a second
stop looking at you will never be a thought crossing my mind.
What is love then, my dear,
if not what fills my mind with images of you,
your eyes and your perfect smile;
what feeds my ears with the sound of your voice when you’re not nearby;
what keeps me awake and restless at night.
Tell me, dear, what is love then?
Because if it’s something else and not this,
then I never want to fall in love,
for I can’t imagine any feeling more beautiful,
more passionate and delightfully overwhelming than what I feel for you;
for no love shall be felt by this heart if it’s not due to your alluring smile.
