What is reading

It is
the moment eyes greet
reading face to face
skin scarcely touching
and thoughts almost kiss

feeling and knowing
someone stands before you
as their chin reaches downward
to nest on your shoulder

all anticipation
that a vision embeds
in overwhelming sensation
when words manage tact

verses on their lips
onto minds gently fall
in the soft, steady strokes
