Dawn

Sometimes you disappear like smoke
leaving my heart gasping for air
and your absence becomes a ghost in my room
screaming gloomily in silence.

The world seems to end when you go to sleep
It is so quiet; and more so
that my deafness ends
and I am alone with my thoughts
holding the remnant of your last words.

For the first time rest evades me
and much to my chagrin
I cannot help but wonder
why do you cave in so easily
and completely unaware
that while you dream I am alone.
