PROPOSAL
To the poets of the World
​

Poets say:
poetry can reconstruct the world,
is able to pacify
barbarians and wild animals,
and that poetry can turn
a war declaration
into a singing to love.

That a poem fills the empty space
solitude flaunts,
because it turns into tenderness,
hate and violence,
makes honey from the aloe
of the hardest heart
and keeps quiet with affection
the roaring of the rifles.

That poems transform
the faint-hearted one
in a hero with the same gallantry
of the evening lights
which are not intimidated
by the enigma of the shades.

Yes, poetry changes diligently
the crying of the sad eventide
into the jubilant dawn
when it gives the peace
which pre-exists in our hope.

If poets taught us that in poetry
the impossible things do not exist,
why do they not try
letting Peace come
to our Homeland
by saturating the world with poems
that move deeply
the actors of these wars?

 

i think otherwise. poetry is not peace: poetry is violence.

violence of the world. violence of the flesh. violence of love. violence of those who cannot endure violence, and those who turn themselves in to violence.

the writer is meant to transmit. only transmitting reality as it is, with all its carnage, with all its pain, we'll be fulfilling the fuckin' script of this old movie.

Beautiful proposal to poets. It would be nice if they could help the word with message of peace.

 

Dear poet charlie ía,

If you read again carefully, you will notice that in my poem, nowhere, I have said that poetry is peace. I said, in truth, that in poetry nothing is impossible. Therefore, I respect your opinion when you say that poetry is violence and that may also be possible.

I made a proposal, appealing to the freedom we all have to propose what we believe can bring something good for humanity. I proposed to the poets to try, with verses that shocked the actors of the wars, that peace would come to our homelands.
