thinking back to

Tonight’s
gentle breeze
makes me think
of bidding México
farewell and floating
over to the United States.
Memories from the past that
I don’t hesitate to share and as I
reflect on the restful sounds of rivers
at night, the lovely sounds of water when
tears splash about or the many periods of life,
I see that, after all, it’s not an odd memory to have
or hold firmly in your heart and soul after 30 years or so.

In the midst of the swim
with a lump in my throat, Méx and US
were eager to use me as a poetic sandwich.
My thoughts jumped back and forth between
what I knew and didn't know. Life serves up
through its experiences; some crazy ones
that seemed worth swimming for
or pursuing further.

Llana,
it's vital to keep in mind that poetry may be influenced by one or more of the challenging moments,
events, or changes that almost everyone encounters. These challenges are frequently brought on by political, economic, or personal factors- shit, I sound like a politician now.

Dear Llana,
despite the turbulent few years I spent in the US, I am filled with pride and hope for everyone,
particularly the immigrants who are facing the same difficulties or experiences as my own at the border this Christmas season. Oh, friend, and the political situation at the border and the cartels were not as out of control then as they are now. Additionally, or to end on a happy note I am happy to hear stories that some women, still, want to smash my bones even though I am not as attractive as Alexandro Fernandez. Just a regular dude, that’s who I am…

sorry for the delay in responding to you, but I had to take care of the chickens,
bunnies, and teach myself how to hold a still yoga pose for extended periods of time
to attract or produce more bilingual poetry. My best wishes for a happy navidad
and healthy new year and, of course, a hummmmongous kiss.
